As a boy in Ireland I was educated by the nuns and then by the Christian brothers in our small town of Monasterevin in Kildare. When I was about 8 years old I had a nun called Sr Concepta as a class teacher. That year there was no room in Christian brothers to take us, so 8 boys were left for an extra year to be educated by the nuns. She resented having 8 boys in her class on top of the normal 22 girls. I liked chatting and joking at the back of the class sometimes. So she’d bring me up to the f
